Aikido vs Kick Boxing
Don't read to much into the title of the video, it looks more like karate to me. But, I did think this showed some interesting Aikido techniques applied to kicks.

Kendo VS Naginata
Here's another interesting video of a kendoka vs. a naginata. I still think it would be difficult.

Aikido Guy Breaks Broom With One Finger!?
Ok, I don't really buy it, looks like he used his entire hand for that break. But, it was a nice trick. :)

Aikido Technique - Ushiro Tekubi-Dori Shiho Nage
I thought this video was interesting, even if the Uke is not really that connected in through the technique. It could just be the demo situation

Katana Vs. Naginata
I really like this video, it really shows how hard it would be to get close to someone using a naginata if you're wielding a katana

Stupid Guy Breaks Katana
There are so many things in this video that are just wrong. Where to begin?!
Ok, first, the blade that is being sold there is made from 440 stainless steel. 440 is a great steel from a short pocket knife because it has good edge retention, but it is way to brittle to be used in any long blades. Second, he's hitting the back of the blade on a table, when it broke the sharp part swung back towards him.

Koshinage By Ikeda Sensei
Here's a great slow motion shot of Ikeda Sensei performing koshinage off what appears to be a Shomen strike. Very Nice.

Test Cutting - I thought you aikidoka might like this one
Though the English guy on the video over dramatizes the video a bit, the gentleman cutting does have very nice technique.

Aikido and Live Blade Practice.
Some time ago I started taking iaido classes in conjunction with my aikido training. I found that training with a live blade gave a sharpness, no pun intended, to my iai kata and thus to my aikiken. I would recommend iaido practice to any aikidoka, I believe it has given my practice a bit more focus.

My Blog's Goal
Hi, My name is Matt and I have been studying aikido since 1998. I plan to gather as much info on aikido as possible and provide another venue for aikidoka to discuss aikido principals and techniques. Feel free to comment at any time and contact me if you're interesting in contributing.
